Welcome to Hanham Athletic Youth Football
My name is Tim Mitchell, and I’m proud to be the Head of Youth Football at Hanham Athletic FC.
Over the past two years, we’ve been on an exciting journey to rebuild and grow youth football at Hanham. What started with a single Under-14s team has grown into four youth teams across two age groups, supported by committed coaches, volunteers, parents, and—most importantly—fantastic young players. This growth hasn’t happened by chance; it’s been driven by a shared belief that Hanham Athletic should be a place where young people can enjoy football, feel part of something special, and develop both on and off the pitch.
Our focus has always been about more than just results. We aim to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where players can learn the game, build confidence, make friends, and develop values such as teamwork, respect, and commitment. These are the foundations that reflect the wider ethos of Hanham Athletic FC and its proud community roots.
Looking ahead, we’re ambitious. We plan to continue expanding the youth section with additional teams in new age groups, ensuring clear pathways for players as they grow through the club. We’re also excited to be launching Mini Miners—an introductory football group designed to give younger children their first positive experience of the game in a fun, welcoming setting.
Youth football is central to the future of Hanham Athletic. It strengthens our community, supports families, and helps secure the long-term health of the club. None of this would be possible without the incredible support of parents, volunteers, coaches, and the wider club committee—and I’m hugely grateful to everyone who has played a part in what we’ve built so far.
